It's possible that there are paintings around town or in shows, that aren't featured on this site. Contact email@example.com for specific paintings or commissions, which are sometimes possible.
These pieces are one-of-a-kind NERC sculptures and paintings by Mike Wellins, co-creator of the Peculiarium. These are no reproductions, these are the original painted painting and or sculpture. Prints are available one page over. There are no prints for sculptures. Mike starts with a production "thrift shop" sculpture or paintings and modifies it with resin, taxidermy pieces and or acrylic paint. Each piece is signed and dated by the artist. Paintings come in the crappy frames they were often bought in. If customers prefer to not ship the frame, we can oblige.
NERC stands for Non-elective Retroactive Collaboration, whereby production art is re-purposed to give new meaning and revitalized imagery. Some would say, that creating NERC pieces is stealing or taking someone else's art, others say it's a form of mockery, still other's say nothing at all. But suffice to say that NERC is based on 3 famous, well known and acknowledged principles of art.
1. Finders keepers.
2. Snooze you lose.
3. What's the big deal? You were going to just chuck it out anyway.
4. Art is anything you can get away with.
Whenever possible, the first artist is always credited.
